About Us

Rugs by Design Limited is a young company which has grown out of a mutual enthusiasm for rugs, and collaboration between Charles Bevan, Peter Haxworth and Tony Wain. The principal motivations in setting up the company are:

To provide opportunities for young British and European
designers

To give our customers an opportunity to purchase outstanding artworks

To help less developed countries by working with entrepreneurs
to develop their production

There is an ever increasing interest in and demand for, rugs to contemporary and modern designs. All our rugs are handmade. We believe they should also be works of art for your walls and floors. Our concept is therefore to marry the skills of the crafts people in Nepal, to western designs – to produce exceptional rugs at affordable prices. By succeeding in this we can bring prosperity both to our rug producers and to our designers and artists.

    Our Values

We place a high value on:

Making a positive contribution to the provision of employment for those working in the rug industry in Nepal and directing profits from our enterprise towards projects designed to improve their living and working conditions.

Supporting and encouraging designers in the UK and Europe who are capable of developing high quality designs of clear artistic merit and who need greater exposure to markets for their work.

We are also committed to:

Ensuring as far as we can, that all those who work on the production of our rugs are paid a fair and living wage.

Avoiding the use of child labour in the rug production
processes.

Using our influence to minimise environmental damage from
the processes used to produce our rugs.

Using profits from the business to further the aims outlined above.
