Charles Bevan
Charles Bevan’s professional activities have taken him to many parts of the world. He is familiar with peoples from every continent and he has always been fascinated by the creative abilities, artefacts and designs of the communities with which he has been involved.

But it is nearer his home that Charles Bevan has isolated the concept for a range of “Classic” rugs. Living in Rome, the mosaic work on which the Romans lavished so much skill and invention, has immense appeal for Charles Bevan. His vision that the techniques of hand rug making could be harnessed to generate contemporary works of art from mosaics, albeit with classic overtones, has enhanced and enriched our design collection.

Charles Bevan’s earlier creative work led him to visualise and commission various rugs to his own concepts – and these are currently held in private collections.
