Fiona
Watson has a background in biological sciences and medical journalism and
studied originally at Leicester University. However in the 90’s she
switched to devote herself full time to print making. Her work has wide
appeal and is sought after by collectors at home and abroad.
Fiona Watson’s work base is the
Glasgow print studio. As a printmaker she uses various media and printing
techniques. Watson’s work has been shown in galleries in Scotland,
Ireland, Wales and England - and internationally, she has participated
in exhibitions in Australia, USA, Belgium, Canada, Slovenia, Denmark and
India. She has also exhibited at a number of solo exhibitions, principally
in Scotland. She has received various awards and commissions including
a recent one for the Habitat Winter 2006 Collection.
The
hallmarks of Fiona Watson’s designs for rugs are bright colours
and mature designs, one of which echoes the view through a microscope
slide. In Fiona Watson’s designs, colours merge and slide gently
towards closely related hues – with some notable exceptions.
